Mali: PMC Wagner heavy causalities

Brussels 28.07.2024 In reports on social media during the ongoing clashes in Northern Mali following a Joint Wagner Group/Afrika Corps-Malian Army Offensive, the Russian Wagner PMC and Malian Ground Forces took heavy casualties following a Tuareg counter-offensive.

In the outshirks of the city of Tinzahuatin, a convoy of the Russian Wagner PMC and an patrol unit of Malian Armed Forces were ambushed by Tuareg rebels – however unclear if belonging to Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA), a coalition of Tuareg/Azawad separatist groups which are supported by Al-Qaeda local allies.

As a result of the ambush, several soldiers of the Wagner PMC and soldiers of the Malian Armed Forces were captured by the militants. Negotiations for their buyout are reported to have been successful.

According to reports, Azawad Tuareg militants managed to shootdown two helicopters of the Wagner Group PMC’s.

On social media, Azawad Separatists shared lots of videos showing the corpses of the slain soldiers, however most of the corpses in the video belong to FAMA.
