Brussels 06.09.2023 Statement by the Spokesperson on obstacles to the freedom of movement of the EU Ambassador in Niger:
“The European Union denounces and regrets the obstacles to freedom of movement of which the European Ambassador, stationed in Niamey, was the victim this Tuesday, September 5 while he was on his way to the French Embassy”.
“Under the Vienna Convention of 1961, the Ambassador of the European Union has been duly accredited and he must, therefore, be able to carry out his mission in full compliance with the said Convention”.
His Excellency Ambassador Salvador Pinto da França has been the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Niger since September 1, 2022.
Immediately before, he had since 2018 served as Deputy Head of Delegation and Head of the Political Section at the European Union Delegation of Mali.
