Islamic State’s Somalia Province, also known as Abnaa ul-Calipha, is an affiliate of the Islamic State that emerged in 2015 and operates primarily in the mountainous regions of Puntland, northern Somalia. The group is a key financial and recruitment hub for the broader Islamic State network, with an estimated 1,000 fighters as of early 2025. It is known for its sophisticated fundraising and is a rival to al-Shabaab.
