The migrant crisis dominated the 5th Africa-EU Summit, which concludes today in the Cote d’Ivoire capital of Abidjan.
The Summit took place with the participation of more than 80 countries and a number of African and European leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, Belgium Prime minister Charles Michel, Moroccan King Mohammed VI, South African President Jacob Zuma, Nigerian President Mamadou Boukhari. Held under the theme of “Investing in youth for a sustainable future”, the Summit aimed at promoting jobs and stability in the African continent.
MEP Gerolf ANNEMANS (ENF) raises questions over implementation of “new partnership” offered by EU leaders to African states at Abidjan Summit. EU continuous acceptance of flows of migrants, open borders and social welfare continue to attract like magnet millions of Africans. Nowadays a trafficker is never further than two conversations away to accommodate the ‘European dream ‘ of a potential migrant.
